Who is the PAX Mini 2 for?
The PAX Mini 2 is the smallest, lightest and most affordable vaporizer PAX has ever made, and it inherits the core features of the discontinued PAX Plus. It is built for people who vape mostly out of the house.
The Mini 2 uses conduction heating, so sessions run at a relaxed pace of five minutes or more with slow, steady draws. There is no degree-by-degree temperature tuning, just four presets; that trade is what keeps the one-button interface so simple. If you want a vape that comes along on hikes, commutes, concerts and trips without ever announcing itself, the Mini 2 was built for exactly that.
A Design That Disappears in a Pocket
The PAX Mini 2 measures 9.3 cm tall, 3.1 cm wide and 2.2 cm deep, and it weighs just 89 g. The flat, rounded shape has no buttons sticking out and no glass anywhere, so it slips into a jeans pocket and disappears.
The body is a single piece of dense matte aluminium, sturdy enough for hiking bags, festival crowds and everyday carry. PAX has built vapes this way for over a decade, and the design has earned a lasting reputation for toughness.
The smooth metal can feel slick in hand, so you can add a silicone cover (sold separately) for extra grip without losing the compact profile.
Conduction Heating, Ready in 22 Seconds
The Mini 2 heats with conduction, which works like cooking in a pan: the oven walls warm your herbs directly. From a cold start it is ready in about 22 seconds, roughly the time it takes to put your grinder away.
Conduction extracts steadily across a session of five minutes or more. Slow, gentle draws of around five seconds work best, with short pauses in between that let vapour build in the oven.
Four Heat Modes, One Button
A single button sits in the centre of the mouthpiece; there is no app, no screen and no menus. Short presses cycle through four preset heat modes, shown as one to four glowing LED petals, and a quick shake locks your choice in.
The modes run from roughly 180°C on one petal to about 215°C on four. Lower modes preserve lighter compounds and flavour, while higher modes extract more material in fewer draws. A common approach starts on two petals and steps up as the session goes on.
This simple layout makes the Mini 2 a strong choice for first-time vapers, since there are no numbers or settings to learn.
Smart Sensors and Haptic Feedback
Motion sensors let the Mini 2 tell when it is in use and when it is resting. Set it down mid-session and it enters automatic standby to save battery and herbs; pick it up or start to draw and it wakes instantly.
Haptic feedback handles the rest of the communication. The vape vibrates when it reaches temperature, when you change modes and when the battery runs low, so you always know its status without looking at it.
An Oven for Solo Doses or Full Sessions
The stainless steel oven sits at the bottom of the vape, behind a magnetic lid that pops open with a press on either side. Filled fully, it holds about 0.5 g of ground herbs, enough for a long session or a shared one.
An extra half-pack lid comes in the box and cuts the oven to 0.25 g for solo micro-doses. Smaller loads warm through quickly and extract very evenly, so nothing goes to waste.
Under the herbs sits a 3D screen with larger holes, which improves airflow through the oven compared with older PAX screens. Three screens are included in the box.
For easier loading, you can add a loading funnel that guides herbs cleanly into the small opening, and a stash tube that carries about three ovens' worth of ground herbs for refills away from home.
Two Mouthpieces, One Clean Vapour Path
Vapour travels through a stainless steel path that is fully isolated from the battery and electronics, which keeps the flavour clean. The silicone mouthpiece stays cool on the lips, even late in a session.
The box includes two magnetic mouthpiece profiles. The flat one keeps the vape slim and discreet, while the raised one gives an easier, airier draw. The draw itself is gentle and slightly snug, a little like sipping through a straw.
How to Use the PAX Mini 2
Everything runs through the mouthpiece button and the LED petals, and a session looks like this:
- Loading: Grind your herbs finely and pack the oven full and firm, using the standard lid for 0.5 g or the half-pack lid for 0.25 g. Close the magnetic lid.
- Powering on: Click and hold the button in the centre of the mouthpiece.
- Choosing a mode: Press the button to cycle through one to four petals, then give the vape a quick shake to lock the mode in.
- Heating: The petals pulse while the oven warms, then go solid with a vibration after about 22 seconds.
- Inhaling: Take slow, steady draws of around five seconds. Set the vape down between draws and standby preserves battery and herbs until you pick it up again.
- Stepping up: Stir a full oven at the halfway point and move up a petal as the flavour fades. Many sessions finish on four petals for full extraction.
- Finishing: Hold the button to switch off, then empty the oven while it is still warm so the used herbs tap straight out.
Battery and Charging
A full charge delivers 7 to 8 sessions, about an hour of use in total; staying on the highest mode drains it somewhat faster. Recharging takes around 90 minutes.
The Mini 2 charges on its own low-profile magnetic charger, which the vape lies flat on. The wall end of the cable is standard USB-C, so any USB-C adapter or power bank powers it. The connector on the vape side is PAX's own design, so keep the cable with your kit when you travel.
The battery is built in and sealed. You can check its level at any time by shaking the vape: the petals light up white, with four petals meaning a full charge.
A Quick Cleaning Routine
A short routine keeps the Mini 2 performing well. After each session, empty the oven while it is still warm; the used herbs tap straight out before any residue can set.
Every three to five sessions, run the included wire brush through the vapour path with some isopropyl alcohol. For a deeper clean, pop the 3D screen out by pressing its edge, soak the screen and mouthpiece in isopropyl alcohol, and wipe the oven with a swab.
Extra 3D screens let you drop a clean screen in while the others soak, and the 3D screen set pairs three screens with a spare brush.
Mini 2 vs PAX 4
The PAX 4 is the step-up model in the current PAX lineup, built around a hybrid heater that adds hot air to the oven's direct heat. That gives it stronger flavour that holds steady across the whole session, and it charges over standard USB-C.
The Mini 2 answers as the smallest and most affordable PAX. It runs 7 to 8 sessions per charge; the PAX 4 manages 5 to 6. Its oven also adjusts between 0.25 g and 0.5 g, while the Four holds a fixed 0.3 g.
If vapour quality comes first, the PAX 4 earns its higher price. If pocket size, flexibility and value matter more, the Mini 2 delivers most of the PAX experience for considerably less.
Mini 2 vs XMax V4 Pro
The XMax V4 Pro is a budget convection portable with a generous spec sheet. It heats with hot air, takes a replaceable battery, supports a glass water pipe adapter, and costs less than the Mini 2.
The Mini 2 counters with a far more refined pocket experience. Its aluminium unibody has no glass or protruding parts to break, and motion standby, haptic feedback and shake-to-check battery give the single button a polish few budget vapes offer.
Spec hunters who want convection and swappable batteries will be happy with the V4 Pro. If your vape lives in a jeans pocket and travels everywhere with you, the Mini 2's build and simplicity are worth the extra cost.
