Who is the XMax V4 Pro for?
The XMax V4 Pro suits anyone who wants convection flavour from a portable vaporizer without a high price tag. It takes the popular V3 Pro formula and refines it with features usually found on much pricier vapes.
If you like to control how your draw feels, the adjustable airflow alone makes this vaporizer worth a close look. Pair that with two heating modes, and you can match the vape to your pace.
Water pipe users will appreciate the glass mouthpiece, which fits straight into a joint with no adapter needed. And with a replaceable battery, a spare in your pocket means no waiting around for a charge.
Adjustable airflow
The V4 Pro has three-level adjustable airflow built into the body, with no extra parts to attach or lose. A switch on the body lets you move between three settings.
At the widest setting, air flows freely for a light, open draw. At the most restricted setting, the draw tightens up noticeably, which can produce warmer, more concentrated pulls. The middle setting sits between the two.
On a convection vape, airflow matters more than you might think. Since hot air heats the herbs, how fast you pull directly affects extraction. A tighter draw keeps air in contact with your herbs longer, while a wide-open setting lets you take bigger, cooler pulls. Having three options means you can adjust to match both your temperature and your preference.
Convection heating for clean flavour
The V4 Pro uses convection heating: hot air flows through your herbs rather than the herbs sitting against a hot surface. This tends to preserve lighter flavour notes and can produce cleaner-tasting vapour compared to direct-contact methods.
The air path is fully isolated from the electronics inside, so the vapour only touches the herb chamber and the glass mouthpiece. Lower temperatures (around 150 to 170°C) tend to bring out more delicate flavours, while higher settings (190 to 220°C) can generate thicker vapour with stronger effects.
Heat-up takes roughly 11 seconds to reach 220°C. The vaporizer vibrates once it hits your target temperature, and you can start drawing straight away.
Session and on-demand modes
The V4 Pro offers two distinct heating modes in one vape.
In session mode, the vaporizer heats your herbs and holds the temperature for 4 or 6 minutes, depending on which timer you choose. This works well when you want to sit back and take your time. In on-demand mode, heating only happens while you hold the button, with a 30-second limit per press. This suits quick draws when you just want a pull or two.
Switching between modes takes a two-second hold of the up and down buttons together. Having both modes in one portable vape gives you real flexibility in how you use it.
Built-in water pipe adapter
The mouthpiece attaches magnetically at its base and also works as a native water pipe adapter. It fits both 14mm and 18mm joints directly, with no separate parts to buy.
Glass as a mouthpiece material tends to preserve vapour flavour well, since it doesn't add any taste of its own. If you prefer the V3 Pro's plastic or ceramic mouthpiece, those are cross-compatible with the V4 Pro too.
For water pipe sessions, the OLED display flips upside down so you can still read the temperature when the vaporizer is inverted.
Design and build
The V4 Pro follows a slim, pen-style shape measuring about 2.5 × 2.5 × 16 cm. It fits in a jacket pocket or small bag easily, and reviewers note it feels more solid than the V3 Pro, with a sturdier shell.
The colour OLED screen sits on the front and shows your current temperature, target temperature, heating mode, and battery level. Temperature adjusts in 1°C increments across the full 100°C to 220°C range using two buttons below the display.
The battery door twists off by hand rather than attaching magnetically, so it stays secure and won't pop open by accident. The USB-C port sits on the side rather than the bottom, which means the vape can stand upright while charging.
Battery and charging
A standard 18650 battery (2550 mAh) powers the V4 Pro, and you can swap it out in seconds by twisting off the battery door.
If you want more run time, the Ampace JP30 (3000 mAh) is available as an add-on and gives you roughly 20% longer sessions than the included battery. Pair it with the Xtar X2 charger and you can keep one battery charging externally while the other stays in the vape, so you always have a full one ready.
A USB cable is included for charging through the side-mounted port. Standby mode kicks in automatically when the vaporizer is idle to help stretch battery life between sessions.
How to use it
Getting started with the V4 Pro takes just a few steps:
- Remove the glass mouthpiece and load your herbs into the chamber. The concave shape helps them settle in naturally.
- Replace the mouthpiece and triple-click the power button to turn the vape on.
- Set your preferred temperature with the up and down buttons.
- Wait about 11 seconds for the vaporizer to heat up. It vibrates when ready.
- Draw from the mouthpiece.
- Triple-click to turn off when finished.
To empty the chamber afterwards, use the small scoop built into the base of the mouthpiece. One dosing capsule comes included so you can try pre-loading your herbs for quicker swaps. A 5-pack is available as an add-on if you find them useful.
Easy to keep clean
A quick brush of the chamber after each session is all you need for regular upkeep. Every few sessions, wipe the chamber with an alcohol-dipped cotton swab to keep flavour fresh.
The mouthpiece disassembles into several parts (glass tip, silicone holder, cap, filter, and mesh screen). For a deeper clean, soak all the removable pieces in isopropyl alcohol for 10 to 20 minutes, rinse with clean water, and let them dry fully before reassembling. Run a burnoff cycle at max temperature for two minutes before your next session.
Using dosing capsules makes a noticeable difference here: herbs stay contained in the capsule, so the chamber barely gets dirty at all. Replacement mesh screens are included so you can swap them in when airflow starts to feel restricted.
XMax V4 Pro vs XMax V3 Pro
The V3 Pro is one of the most popular budget convection vapes around, and the V4 Pro keeps its core strengths: the same convection heating, the same 18650 battery, and even cross-compatible mouthpieces.
Where the V4 Pro moves ahead is in the details. Three-level adjustable airflow is the biggest addition, giving you draw control the V3 Pro never offered. You also get a glass mouthpiece that doubles as a water pipe adapter, a colour OLED display, side-mounted USB-C for upright charging, a more secure screw-off battery door, and a standby mode for conserving power.
If your V3 Pro still suits your needs, it remains a capable vape. For airflow control, water pipe use, or a better display, the V4 Pro is a clear upgrade.
XMax V4 Pro vs Wolkenkraft FX Mini Ultra
Both are convection portables with glass mouthpieces, OLED displays, and USB-C charging. The FX Mini Ultra holds about 0.15 g, runs on a built-in 1600 mAh battery, offers session mode only (with a 3 to 5 minute timer), and comes with a 5-year warranty.
The V4 Pro adds adjustable airflow, on-demand mode alongside session mode, a replaceable 18650 battery with more capacity, and a glass mouthpiece that works as a water pipe adapter. The FX Mini Ultra's longer warranty is worth considering if long-term coverage matters to you.
For versatility and the option to swap batteries, the V4 Pro offers more. For a simpler vaporizer with strong warranty backing, the FX Mini Ultra is a solid choice.
XMax V4 Pro vs XMax Starry V4
These two share the same brand and sit at a similar price, but they heat herbs differently. The Starry V4 uses conduction, where herbs sit against hot surfaces, while the V4 Pro uses convection, where hot air flows through the herbs. Convection tends to preserve flavour better and can provide more even extraction.
The V4 Pro also heats up in about 11 seconds compared to roughly 35 for the Starry V4, adds on-demand mode (the Starry V4 is session only), and includes a glass mouthpiece that fits water pipes. The Starry V4 does offer a wider choice of session timers: 4, 6, and 10 minutes.
If you prefer conduction-style draws and longer session options, the Starry V4 is a solid pick. For faster heating, better flavour, and more flexibility, the V4 Pro has clear advantages.
