Stabilised maple burl replaces the standard anodised aluminium heat shield on the Tempest 2. The wood is stabilised for durability and heat resistance, and every piece carries its own colour and grain pattern, so no two sleeves look the same.
Fitted with the wood sleeve, the vaporizer comes to 43 g against 46 g with aluminium. The main gain is hand feel: wood reads warmer and softer in the palm than metal, and it stays slightly cooler to the touch through longer sessions.
