The AirVape ENSŌ Diamond is the first charcoal-free heater from ENSŌ, the team behind the Red Dot-winning electric hookah, built together with AirVape. It drops onto the traditional pipe you already own, and early hands-on impressions have been enthusiastic.

The Diamond suits hookah owners who love their pipe and not the coal routine, and lounges where open embers are banned. It heats only, so your own stem, base and hose stay in use. Electric heat has its own taste character, and an evening on it means no ash, no embers and nothing to light.

The Diamond uses a classic plug-in base and fits any traditional hookah stem, sitting where your bowl normally goes. The ceramic cup is built in, so there is no external bowl, no foil, no coals and no adapter to source.

The body is roughly hand-sized, small enough to travel with your pipe to a terrace or a garden table. A magnetic cap holds firmly on top and lifts away cleanly when the session ends.

One thing to know before you order: the Diamond is the heat source and nothing more. Your own stem, base, water and hose handle the rest of the session.

A precise ceramic element warms the pack from above and from the sides. A coal presses heat down onto one spot. The Diamond surrounds the blend, so the whole pack sits in the same warmth.

It also holds the set temperature for the whole session, which is where electric heat pulls ahead of embers. Coals behave differently depending on the brand, the room, a draught and where you place them.

Nothing burns inside the Diamond, so there is no ash, no carbon monoxide and no coal smoke over the table. What you draw comes from your blend and your own water pipe.

Controls on the front let you set the session temperature, the pre-heat temperature and how long the pre-heat runs. A display shows the values as you dial them in.

A common starting point is a hotter pre-heat of around 215°C, followed by a session temperature closer to 180°C. Start the session low and climb as the pack settles. Pushing the blend hard at the beginning can overheat it.

Once a combination works, you can save it as a profile for that blend and recall it next time. Coals never repeat themselves exactly. A saved profile does.

The integrated ceramic cup takes 10 to 15 g of your blend, a traditional-size pack. Many electric heads in this category work with small pods, so a full bowl's worth is a real difference.

The cup is silicone-sealed, clicks into place and lifts out for cleaning. A mesh screen keeps the pack settled and away from direct contact with the element.

Pack light and fluffy and leave the blend loose. Use a blunt tool for stirring and loading, since sharp or metal tools can damage the cup and its seal.

The controls sit on the front, and every session runs in two stages: a pre-heat, then the session itself.

1. Loading: Pack the ceramic cup with 10 to 15 g of your blend, light and fluffy, then fit the mesh screen.
2. Fitting: Click the cup into place, set the magnetic cap on top and sit the Diamond on your hookah stem.
3. Powering on: Hold the button for a few seconds until the display wakes.
4. Setting: Dial in the pre-heat temperature, the pre-heat time and the session length you want.
5. Pre-heating: Start the pre-heat with a double tap. The session begins on its own once the pre-heat finishes.
6. Drawing: Draw through your own hookah as normal while the Diamond holds the set temperature.
7. Adjusting: Step the session temperature down as the pack settles, or recall a saved profile that does it for you.
8. Extending: Swap in a charged battery or plug in via USB-C if the evening runs long.
9. Finishing: The Diamond runs for the session length you set, then stops heating. Lift the cap, take the cup out and empty it.

A session runs 90 to 120 minutes, with around 90 minutes from a single battery. LED indicators on the pack show the charge before you start, and a full charge takes roughly 90 minutes.

The battery is removable, so you can swap a drained pack for a charged one in seconds without stopping the session. Keeping a second pack charged is a good habit for long evenings and back-to-back rounds.

The Diamond also runs while plugged in via USB-C, so a nearby socket takes the runtime limit away. Sensible battery care helps as well: charge the pack before it sits flat for long periods.

The box holds a USB-C cable and no wall adapter. Our USB-C fast charger fills that gap, sold separately.

The USB port carries firmware updates as well as charging. Fixes and improvements can arrive after purchase, so the Diamond can get better over time.

Empty and clean the ceramic cup after every pack. It lifts straight out, and keeping it clear stops old flavour carrying into the next session.

Keep the mesh screen clear at the same time. The removable parts are made for repeated high-temperature use, so this stays a short job.

The Diamond keeps the pipe you already own and changes only the heat source. It carries a 10 to 15 g ceramic cup, a battery you can exchange mid-session and profiles you can save per blend.

Both take the same idea from opposite ends. Pick the Shisha if you want one self-contained hookah to carry and set up. Pick the Diamond if your traditional pipe stays on the table and only the coals go.
